Understanding and Managing the Risks of Phishing Scams

Protecting the privacy every employee is core to what you do, even as organizations of all sizes are falling victim to various types of phishing scams targeting employees. These attempts by external parties to fraudulently extract information through electronic communication from employees, including usernames, passwords, banking information and other personal identification details, can have a direct impact on payroll.

Phishing scams are often carried out to fraudulently extract funds from the organization and/or its employees. They typically involve a “seemingly legitimate person” who is apparently associated with the organization, requesting payment or a transfer of funds to a purportedly legitimate vendor or supplier of the organization, whereby the identity of the perpetrator is concealed through email ‘spoofing’ or by other similar means. These and other similar schemes can unleash havoc on any organization, causing financial harm, reputational damage as well as giving rise to human resource nightmares. Given that prevention—rather than detection—is the best deterrent against these types of schemes, this essential webinar, led by a seasoned forensic accountant will provide participants with the tools and skills necessary to identify and protect against them.
